I have not been given my exact next brief yet, however I do know that it it based on
sustainability, also as a class we had a group discussion on what we think we could produce together as an end product for the brief. We came up with the idea of using recycled materials to make something new and we decided on making a quilt. We will each make a square out of any gathered fabrics we can find in charity shops or around the house etc. I am very excited about the sound of this brief as I like the idea of creating something new and beautiful out of something old that no one wanted anymore. We have also discussed that we are going to visit some old people's homes and do a few workshops with them which I think is very exciting! We will be looking closely at rationing, particularly concentrating on the rationing in World War 2, therefore we will be visiting some other places for inspiration such as war museums etc.
Here are some examples of some of the planning and research i've been doing in my notepad to start of with.
As we decided to make a quilt for our end product I have began to research into quilts and how they are made. I have found an idea to start off by making 'paper quilts' which is basically taking materials like paper, book paper, newspaper, wrapping paper, wedding paper or fabric and placing them into a pleasant 'quilt like' arrangement. I am very excited about this as I enjoy creating collage a lot and think I will find it fun the create patterns out of it, as i'm currently on a half term brake I am free to experiment until my hearts content so will begin some work right away!
