We also went on a trip to Stockport Staircase House, which is a beautiful building that holds a timeline of rooms. We were shown a typical 1940's bedroom and living room and also very kindly shown some 1940's clothes. We were really fortunate to be granted permission to touch and examine the objects and garments in the rooms, which really helped me get a feel of the quality of the clothes and helped my understanding of the variety of materials and fabrics used. There were some very rare and unfamiliar objects and it was fascinating to discover what their purpose was.
