- Anaglypta Wallpaper Competition
Currently I am in the middle of working on two brief's that are mixing in together which are 'Personal Passions' and 'Anaglypta Wallpaper Competition'. The 'Personal Passions' brief is based around things that I have always found interesting and inspiring and we were asked to look into a subject matter that we have always wanted to look at but never had the chance. The subject that I chose was 60s style fashion and looking into typical hippie and festival style clothing. I began by producing drawings of things that I relate to hippies and festival fashion which were things like peace signs, feathers, psychedelic shapes and patterns, flowers and hippie vans. I then started to look at colour and began experimenting with ink and started to look at how they flow into each other to create psychedelic and hypnotic patterns.
Further on in the project I started to look at symmetry and kaleidoscope images. I began creating symmetrical images with ink to create patterns and background that I decided could later be used in photoshop to experiment with. I took inspiration from looking at a lot of images from the 60s and 70s of hippie's and festivals. I looked into 60s fashion prints that involved flowers and were created with the typical bright and bold 60s colours. I also looked at some psychedelic album artwork such as Pink Floyd and Leif Podhajsky. After doing this research I decided that I wanted to create some fashion prints inspired by how hippie's used to wear clothing that represented their personality. This is something which I am know beginning to experiment with on photoshop and in the print room.
