BOFFO Building Fashion

When recently researching London Fashion Week I came across a post on BOFFO Building Fashion, which is a pop up shop that is designed by the London based architect Graham Hudson. He collaborated with BOFFO and new fashion designer Patrik Ervell to create this very creative temporary retail space, which is located in downtown Manhattan, New York. It looks really unusual and has a very dynamic and abstract feel to it creating a look that reminds me of a vintage reconstruction site!

The design concept was inspired by Nicola Formichetti , who is the Fashion Director for Lady Gaga and the Creative Director for Mugle. BOFFO is a non profit organisation who say their mission is "to educate and inform the public transforming temporary spaces into innovative exhibitions and events while providing exposure for artists and designers".

These are some examples of Patrik Ervell's Fall - Winter 2011 Men's Collection. The collection surroundings again has a reconstruction style to it with the white cloth draping down onto the floor and the lights and pillars being on show. The draped white fabric also reminds me a sheets of thick snow which fits in perfectly with it being a winter collection.

Hudson used a variety of interesting materials for the retail boutique including used wood flooring and cinder blocks. As my next brief is concentrating on sustainability I think this links in with the BOFFO store  as the designer has used reused materials to create it and made them into something that will last and be of benefit to the pubic. With Patrik Ervell's beautiful clothes and Hudson's unusual use of 'rubbish' materials there should be a strong contrast between them almost like beauty and ugly but the opposites actually work beautifully together and create an unusual vintage style.
