Contact with the Industry Number 2.

For my second contact with the industry I sent the company Howkapow an email asking for some advise on my work. I have just received a reply with some great advise from them:

Dear Lyndsay

Thanks for getting in touch and showing us your lovely work. Here are a few tips:
+ Your patterns are clean and very commercial, especially your triangle ones. Try and play around with the triangle motif a little more to give it your own take. Geometrics are very 'in' at the moment and if you are able to use them with your own take on them then they are a winner. For reference, have you checked out the work of Kate Moross?

+ I like the idea of your rainbow print for your Feather Print on your tote bag. Really nice idea. However, think about how you would mass produce these if anyone were to put in a large order with you in the future... would you make them all by hand? I wouldn't suggest it. Printing in many colours through a commercial manufacturer though is costly so look at trying to refine your designs so that they are only made in one or two colours but still as striking.

Hope this helps!

Glad you like Howkapow - keep up the good work :)

I have found this advise very helpful as its made me think of my work in a more professional way e.g. thinking about things like colour and scale for mass producing. I also think it's extremely kind of them to reply with an artist to look at as it shows that they have really looked at my work and been as helpful and friendly as possible!
