This album artwork is by a band called Tame Impala for their album InnerSpeaker. Its a really beautiful cover with interesting colours and composition, designed by Melbourne based artist Leif Podhajsky. The music that Tame Impala makes is classed as the genre Alternative. They create lots of unusual sounds with their instruments and as a band their image and style of music has a "hippie" vibe to it. I think that this album cover shows this "hippie" style, also it reminds me of the artwork that hippies used to make with these kind of colours (like the image below which I found on Tumblr) and the way that the image goes in makes you feel kind of uneasy and spaced out.
I researched some more into Leif Podhajsky who I found also does a lot of other artwork for many Alternative bands with the same sort of style and colour palette. I think he has a wonderful talent for capturing the particular vibes that the bands are trying to get across and I would like to research more into his work.
Below are some further examples of his artwork for other bands which I also found very inspiring:
Ascension.
Renew.
DMT.
Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes.
Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes.
Here are some more album covers that I have found on my iTunes that have always been really inspiring to me and that I think are really arty and intriguing...
Youth Lagoon - Year of Hibernation.
The Ruby Suns - Sea Lions.
Warpaint - The Fool.
Alexander - Alexander.
Bombay Bicycle Club - A Different Kind of Fix.
Glasser - Ring.
