A friend recently recommended a design company called 'People Will Always Need Plates' to me to check out for my project. I had a look on their website and was presently surprised with what I found! They create lovely cutlery, stationary, clothing, cushions and art prints that have drawings of city life on them, being full of visuals of tall towers, bridges and lamposts etc. Again they create line drawings but they have been layers onto a coloured background which is something that I could look to do with my basic line drawings to give them a bit more depth and make them a little more interesting. I also found some plates that had shipyards on them which is like what I have been drawing from my trip that I took to Salford Quays. I found this a great inspiration as to where my drawings could lead to in the future of this brief as it has shown me the types of surfaces that my designs could be put on. I would probably never have thought that buildings would look good on plates or cups or cushions but this has shown me that it can look really marvellous!
